SALT LAKE CITY - Utah pitcher Bret Helton was selected on the second day of the 2015 MLB Draft on Tuesday. Helton was selected in the ninth round, going as the 277th overall selection to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Helton is the seventh player to be drafted in the first 10 rounds during the Bill Kinneberg era, joining C.J. Cron (first round, 2011), Stephen Fife (third round, 2008), Tyler Wagner (fourth round, 2012), Rick Anton (eighth round, 2011), Mitch Watrous (eighth round, 2014) and Nick Green (10th round, 2014).
