Utah running back Zack Moss and receiver Britain Covey will be “ready to roll” Thursday night at BYU, coach Kyle Whittingham said during his weekly news conference Monday.
Questions existed about the star players’ availability for No. 14 Utah’s season opener, with Covey rehabilitating from knee surgery and Whittingham not having updated Moss’ participation in practice since early August, citing the team’s policy of disclosing only long-term injuries.
Asked if Moss would play this week, Whittingham said, “Yes, oh, yeah, absolutely … unless something happens between now and then.”
Utah’s first update to the preseason depth chart lists junior Devonta’e Henry-Cole as Moss’ primary backup.
