Tony Finau will become the first homegrown Utahn to play in the Ryder Cup, after being selected Monday by U.S. captain Jim Furyk.
Finau, a West High School graduate and Lehi resident, was named the fourth captain's pick, filling the 12th spot on the team that will meet Europe in the biennial golf matches Sept. 28-30 in Paris.
“I'm so excited to be on the Ryder Cup team and I cannot wait to get to Paris,” Finau said.
Xander Schauffele, considered the biggest challenger to Finau for the final berth, tied for third place Monday in the weather-delayed BMW Championship near Philadelphia.
