Utah’s Bishop, Curtis, Stewart appear to hold back Democratic challengers to keep their U.S. House seats

Washington • Utah Reps. Rob Bishop and John Curtis handily rolled to re-election to Congress on Tuesday, unsurprisingly holding the line against their Democratic opponents according to unofficial results released shortly after the polls closed Tuesday.

Rep. Chris Stewart, though, faced tougher competition from Democrat Shireen Ghorbani in a race where early numbers showed them neck-and-neck in the GOP dominated district, with some conservative counties still yet to report.

Bishop and Curtis didn’t face competitive races in their strong GOP districts where Democrats have failed to make headway since redistricting in 2010 — or even before when it comes to Bishop who has slid to another term every two years since running the first time in 2002.
