Las Vegas • Given it plays a high-profile game against Ohio State on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena, Kentucky was happy to fly in a few days early and play Utah.
The sixth-ranked Wildcats got more than they bargained for from the upstart Utes on Wednesday night.
Utah jumped all over Kentucky early, built a 17-point second-half lead, gave it all back and then held on late for a seismic nonconference victory, 69-66, in front of a stunned pro-Kentucky crowd.
With the game tied at 66-66, Timmy Allen hit a one-footed runner along the left side over Nick Richards with 1:21 to go.
