Utah State's Sindri Gudmundsson sets school record in the javelin

Utah State’s track and field teams captured 28 top-five finishes at both the Utah Spring Classic and UCLA-hosted Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

In his second career meet as an Aggie, redshirt freshman Sindri Gudmundsson won gold and broke his own school record on his first attempt in the javelin with a distance of 73.06m. Gudmundsson’s mark in the javelin remains second all-time in Mountain West history.

“We were excited to go against some great competition and we ended up doing some spectacular things,” said veteran USU head coach Gregg Gensel. “I was really impressed with how everyone did and we’re just looking to stay healthy as we get ready to host the conference meet.
