Las Vegas • Utah State's young Aggies will probably go as far in the Mountain West Conference women's basketball tournament as sophomore point guard Funda Nakkasoglu takes them.
Nakkasoglu is the unquestioned leader of the Aggies, who are the No. 7 seed in the tournament, which starts Monday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Utah State opens against 10th-seeded Nevada, which it swept during the regular season. The winner of the first-round matchup between the Aggies (13-16) and the Wolf Pack (5-24) advances against No. 2 seed Fresno State on Tuesday night.
Nakkasoglu, who was born in Turkey and raised in Australia, leads the Mountain West in scoring.
