OGDEN — Ever since he won last year’s State Amateur at Alpine Country Club, Patrick Fishburn has been looking forward to playing in this year’s tournament at Ogden Country Club, a golf course he’s says he’s played “thousands” of times in his young life.
The 24-year-old BYU golfer was hoping to start State Am week off by winning medalist honors in stroke play, but he came up short because of a few “dumb shots” on his back nine and finished second.
Fishburn’s 71 at Ogden G&CC left him one shot behind 20-year-old Utah State University golfer Braydon Swapp, whose two-day score of 133 total gave him medalist honors.
