Logan • Utah State coach Matt Wells will interview for the vacant job at Missouri, the website PowerMizzou.com reported Monday night.
Wells is finishing his third season as the Aggies' head coach. Including this year's record of 6-6, he is 25-15 since replacing Gary Andersen following the 2012 season.
Missouri is looking to replace longtime head coach Gary Pinkel, who abruptly resigned for health reasons on Nov. 13. The resignation also came after a week of racial tension at the school, which included a threatened strike by members of the football team.
The news of Missouri's interest in Wells came only hours after his weekly meeting with the media — this time via conference call.
