Logan • Chris Smith scored 20 points, Quinn Taylor added 16 and Darius Perkins contributed 12 on Saturday night, leading Utah State to a 88-70 victory over San Jose State at the Spectrum.
The Aggies owned a 43-36 lead at halftime before breaking the game open. The Spartans managed only two field goals in the opening 8 1/2 minutes of the second half, when USU used a 22-5 run to break away.
Utah State, which snapped a two-game losing streak, improved its record to 14-13 overall and 6-10 in the Mountain West Conference. San Jose State, which lost its fifth straight game, slipped to 8-20 and 3-13.
