Ogden • A northern Utah highway popular with outdoor recreation enthusiasts is fully reopening after being closed this year two weeks later than is normal because of accumulated snow.
The Department of Transportation said the Monte Cristo Highway, also known as State Route 39, was set to reopen at midnight Thursday in time for use this weekend.
That section of the highway is expected to remain open until late fall, with other sections open all year.
The department says it’d be prohibitively costly to keep the entire highway open all year.
