A Utah school crossing guard was seriously injured Thursday morning when she was struck by a car as she was escorting a child across the street.
According to the Roosevelt City Police Department, the 70-year-old crossing guard was hit about 7:50 a.m. by a 16-year-old driver who “failed to yield” at 300 W. 200 North, near Kings Peak Elementary School. The victim suffered “serious head and leg injuries” and was transported to a hospital.
According to a Facebook post by Roosevelt police, “The crossing lights were functioning” and the crossing guard “was equipped with a handheld stop sign, cones and emergency, colored outerwear.
