USU golf: Utah State finishes in second place at Southern Utah Invitational

Utah State’s golf team shot a final round 4-over 292 and finished in second place with a 2-under 574 (282-292) at the Southern Utah-hosted Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational held at the par-72, 6,781-yard Sunbrook Golf Club. In all, USU had three of the top-nine players in the field.

Utah Valley won the team championship with an 11-under 565 (281-284), while the Wolverines Aaron Yeates took medalist honors with an 8-under 136 (68-68).

Utah State sophomore Chase Lansford finished the tournament in third place for his best-ever tournament finish and his second-ever top-five placing. Lansford began the tournament by carding a career-low 8-under 64 during his opening round on Monday before shooting a 3-over 75 during his second round on Tuesday to finish with a 5-under 139 (64-75).
