Utah State football held its ninth spring practice Friday afternoon on Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium, and fifth-year head coach Matt Wells likes the competitive spirit he has seen on both sides of the ball thus far.
“The biggest thing I’ve seen during the first three weeks is the competitive spirit about this team, and it has not been one-sided,” said Wells. “Today I thought the offense took a major step forward in terms of its efficiency and execution. And the defense took a step forward today with creating turnovers. You saw a couple in the red zone, and it’s been a big emphasis for us.
