Logan • San Diego State's ball-hogging approach and Utah State's offensive struggles were a bad combination for the Aggies in a 40-13 loss to San Diego State in the rain Friday night at Maverik Stadium.
Donell Pumphrey ran for 223 yards on 32 carries as the Mountain West's defending champions dominated Utah State for the second year in a row. The Aztecs won 48-14 last October in San Diego.
The Aggies held San Diego to one first down to begin Friday's game and then scored a touchdown on their first drive. But the Aztecs took over after that, building a 20-7 halftime lead.
