A small Utah community’s volunteer fire department may be reinstated after being shuttered over the summer.
The Sunset city council is voting on the matter Tuesday night, five months after its decision to disband the volunteer department and contract with the North Davis Fire District (NDFD) sparked controversy in the community.
The decision to get rid of the fire department came as the council was looking at a roads project for 2018 and a tighter budget after an RV dealership moved out — taking its property taxes with it — leaving the city with less money to work with.
