Utah offensive coordinator Troy Taylor will return to his hometown as Sacramento State’s head football coach, according to the Football Scoop website that closely tracks the coaching profession.
Identified by the Sacramento Bee this past weekend as the likely leader among three candidates with strong local ties, Taylor reportedly will leave the Ute staff after two seasons. His tenure has been highlighted by the school’s first Pac-12 South championship.
Taylor worked at Eastern Washington of the Big Sky Conference in 2016 before coming to Utah. Prior to that, he was a highly successful co-head coach at Folsom High School, near Sacramento.
