Record-breaking cold (and snow) are in Utah’s forecast

If it seems especially cold for October in Utah, it is. And it’s going to get even colder. If the National Weather Service forecast is correct, it’s about to be colder than any temperature ever recorded in Salt Lake City during the month.

Temperatures are running about 20 degrees below average, with a forecast high of 39 on Monday, dropping to 25 overnight and reaching just 31 on Tuesday — when there will be 90% chance of snow.

But then it's going to get really cold. The overnight low on Tuesday night is just 11 degrees. And after a high of 30 on Wednesday, temperatures are expected to dip to 14 on Wednesday night into Thursday.
