Officers were at 350 E. 700 South about 7 p.m. when the shooting occurred, said Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Keith Horrocks. He said he did not know whether more than one person was shot or whether any officers were injured.
Horrocks said he did not know the condition of any of the people involved but said paramedics were at the scene.
Horrocks also said he did not know what led up to the shooting or the nature of the call that brought officers to that address, which is an apartment building.
Motorists were asked to avoid driving on 300 East between 600 South and 800 South; the intersection at 700 South was completely closed to traffic, Horrocks said.
