Police were searching for man Friday morning who allegedly splashed a Millcreek resident with gasoline and set a small fire around his home before leaving the scene.

Unified Fire Authority spokesman Taylor Sandstrom said firefighters were called to possible arson at a home near 1400 East and 4100 South in Millcreek about 1:30 a.m.

Witnesses told investigators there was a dispute between two people outside the residence, and one person took a can of gas and splashed it onto the person with whom he was arguing, according to Sandstrom.

The person who’d been splashed went inside, Sandstrom said, and the person who was still outside spread the gas around the home and set it on fire.
