Washington blocked seven Utah shots in the first half Thursday night as the Huskies established the tone of a 69-53 victory at the Huntsman Center.
The Utes (7-8, 1-2 Pac-12) got 12 points from junior center Jayce Johnson, while senior guard Sedrick Barefield forced some shots and was held to six points on 2-of-10 shooting after scoring 33, 24 and 26 in the previous three games. Parker Van Dyke was 0 for 6 until hitting a late 3-pointer, as Utah shot 33 percent from the field.
The Utes rank in the bottom 20 percent of Division I teams defensively, but offense was the bigger problem Thursday, when they made one basket during a 10-minute stretch of the second half.
