The University of Utah men's basketball program received two years of probation for recruiting violations stemming from the coaching staff's visiting a prospect during a quiet period in the spring of 2018, the NCAA announced Tuesday.
The school self-imposed a suspension of associate head coach Tommy Connor for one week in November 2018 and “rescinded its coach in waiting agreement” with Connor as part of the sanctions, according to the NCAA's report.
Connor, an assistant to coach Larry Krystkowiak for eight seasons, long has been viewed as a potential successor to Krystkowiak, although no formal arrangement had been reported until now.
