The Mountain West Conference will not seek to expand at the present time, the league's Board of Directors decided at its annual mid-year meetings Monday in Phoenix.
Over a two-day period, the conference school presidents and athletic directors discussed a variety of topics.
Regarding expansion, the Board considered the stability the current 12-member football configuration has brought to the conference and decided not to pursue any new members. The situation is fluid, however, and expansion could be an issue down the road.
Reports last week indicated that Texas-El Paso and Rice, both former WAC members, were both interested in joining the conference.
