A man who allegedly kidnapped a woman and brought her to downtown Ogden on Friday night, where she escaped, was killed in a shootout with police.

About 6:10 p.m. a woman approached an Ogden officer near 2500 Washington Blvd. in downtown Ogden saying she had been kidnapped. She gave police a description of the man, and when the man spotted officers soon after, he allegedly opened fire with a pistol, Ogden Police Chief Randy Watt said at a news conference streamed live on FOX 13.

Watt said officers returned fire, and the man — who was in his late-20s or early 30s — was killed.
