Once-safe congressional districts are now becoming competitive, prompting incumbents to spend more time in their districts. Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., said: “I do town halls, I do tele-conferences, I do opioid conferences – it’s a people game” (March 18). This sums up the attitude of entrenched incumbents (especially those in Utah): Re-election is just a game to win without revealing their stance on substantive issues that may cost them votes.
