BOISE — The Akron Zips finally have their long-awaited bowl victory.
Unfortunately for the Utah State Aggies, if came their expense.
Utah State head coach Matt Wells used two different quarterbacks — senior Chuckie Keeton and sophomore Kent Myers — but the Aggies' were felled by penalties (seven) and turnovers (three) despite outgaining their MAC opponents 367 to 282.
The Zips only trailed once on their way to a 23-21 victory over USU in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl at Boise State's Albertsons Stadium. The loss ends the Aggies' three-game bowl winning streak
Junior running back Devante Mays (124 yards on 12 carries) and senior wide receiver Hunter Sharp (10 catches for 85 yards) both had strong games for the Aggies (6-7).
