Herriman crash kills baby, critically injures others

Related Topics: Infant, Mountain View Corridor

Just before a deadly crash Monday night, a caller reported a truck driving recklessly and speeding on Mountain View Corridor near Herriman, police say.

Two minutes later at 7:18 p.m., a truck crashed into two vehicles at the highway’s northbound intersection with Rosecrest Road (about 14500 South) in Herriman, killing an infant and sending six others to the hospital.

Four of the victims were in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, including the driver of the truck, said Unified police Lt. Brian Lohrke. Two others were listed in serious condition with injuries that were not life-threatening.

It’s too early to say whether police anticipate arresting the truck’s driver upon his release from the hospital, Lohrke said Tuesday morning.
