From no homes to building homes, trainees get tools to do the job and find one as well

A pilot program to train homeless Salt Lake City residents in basic home construction and help them find jobs graduated its first crop of trainees Tuesday.

The program, sponsored by the city Department of Economic Development along with state and community agencies and construction industry leaders, gives apprentices up to six months of free housing and a month of intensive training.
