A Utah startup has received the tech world’s version of the Golden Ticket: It’s been acquired by Facebook.
Vidpresso, a six-year-old Ogden company that makes it easier to use social media with live video, has been “acqui-hired” by Facebook, the industry site TechCrunch reported. That means Facebook is acquiring the company and hiring its seven employees.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and a Facebook spokesperson declined to comment beyond Vidpresso’s announcement.
Vidpresso’s technology allows video content makers to add interactive elements to their videos, such as polls and comments.
“Way back in 2012 we founded Vidpresso with a simple vision: To make video more like HTML—easier to author, easier to change, and customized per person,” Vidpresso officials said in a statement posted Monday on the company’s website.
