Dennis Erickson, former Ute assistant now coaching the Salt Lake Stallions, is headed to the College Football Hall of Fame

In their inaugural season, the Salt Lake Stallions will have a College Football Hall of Fame inductee as their coach.

Dennis Erickson, a successful head coach at six schools, is a member of the class of 2019, which was announced Monday.

Erickson, 71, was a Utah assistant coach from 2013-16. He temporarily retired, before joining the Stallions in May when the Alliance of American Football was created. The team is in training camp in San Antonio, preparing for a Feb. 10 season opener.

Named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year at each of the three schools where he was the head coach, Erickson is best known for winning two national championships at Miami and reviving Oregon State’s program, taking the Beavers to a No.
