Corner Canyon scored touchdowns on six straight drives in the second, third and fourth quarters Friday, beating American Fork 49-14 for the Class 6A state football championship at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The Chargers won the 5A championship last year before moving to 6A. American Fork lost in the 6A title game for the second year in a row. Corner Canyon had defeated the Cavemen 59-28 in the regular season.
Cole Hagen passed for 205 yards and three touchdowns, two to Noah Kjar, in the first half as the Chargers took a 28-7 lead. Corner Canyon converted three fourth-down plays on its opening drive, including a 14-yard TD pass to Kjar on fourth and 7.
