The man who loaned a handgun to Melvin S. Rowland, who then used it to shoot and kill Lauren McCluskey at the University of Utah, now faces federal charges.
Nathan Daniel Vogel, 21, of Millcreek, was named in an indictment Wednesday for illegally purchasing the firearm, along with Sarah Emily Lady, 24, who helped him buy it by allegedly deceiving a dealer.
The two have been charged with giving false statements while purchasing a gun and conspiring to commit an offense against the United States.
McCluskey, a 21-year-old track athlete, was murdered by Rowland on Oct.
