The BYU women’s basketball team was picked to finished second in the annual West Coast Conference preseason coaches poll, announced by the league Tuesday morning.
Gonzaga was tabbed as the team to beat, with 78 points and seven first-place votes. The Cougars received three first-place votes and finished with 75 points.
BYU claimed the tournament title last year and advanced to the second round of the 2019 NCAA tournament.
Pacific finished third in the poll — the Tigers’ highest preseason placement since rejoining the conference in the 2013-14 season — with 61 points, followed by Saint Mary’s (59) and Santa Clara (40).
