LOGAN — Tanner Magnum threw for four touchdown passes and three running backs ran for three more as BYU defeated their northern rival 51-28 to win back the Old Wagon Wheel.
The Cougars' freshman quarterback threw for 284 yards on 16 of 30 attempts. His favorite target was junior wide receiver Mitch Mathews who caught six passes for 158 yards. He scored on touchdown passes of 72 and 35 yards. The former was the longest catch of Mathews' career.
Three different BYU players scored rushing touchdowns (Algernon Brown, Mitchell Juergens and Francis Bernard).
