Provo • First-time starter Gavin Baxter scored a career-high 25 points and Nick Emery scored a season-high 17 points off the bench as BYU routed Loyola Marymount 67-49 on Saturday in a West Coast Conference game at the Marriott Center.
BYU improved to 6-3 in WCC play, 14-10 overall, and moved into sole possession of second place in the league, a half-game ahead of Saint Mary’s and San Francisco. LMU dropped to 4-5 and 16-7.
The Cougars shot 36 percent in the first half and LMU took a 26-23 lead at the break, but the Cougars went on an 18-0 run early in the second half to take control.
