LOGAN — Considering it is a completely stationary object that hasn’t moved since emerging from the soil more than 1,500 years ago, the famous Jardine Juniper tree might seem an odd choice for a tattoo for someone as constantly on the move as Dillon Maggard.
But since coming to Cache Valley to attend Utah State University nearly four years ago, Maggard came to regard the nearly six-mile trail out of the bottom of Wood Camp Hollow to a prominent spot above Logan Canyon as his favorite running route. That’s why he was willing to endure six months’ worth of returning again and again to a Logan parlor to have his left shoulder emblazoned with an intricate tattoo of the massive tree and the surrounding mountains.
