Should the Utah Jazz opt to carry the league maximum of 15 players on their roster when the regular season opens Oct. 25, the battle for the last spot on the team is now down to two players.
The Jazz on Thursday announced that they have waived big man Henry Sims, whittling their roster down to 16 players. Center Jeff Withey and guard Chris Johnson are the two players on the team with nonguaranteed contracts.
Sims appeared in three preseason games for Utah, averaging 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in 6.3 minutes per contest.
The Georgetown product is likely headed for the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz's D-League affiliate, although any NBA team is be allowed to claim him.
