The Utah Jazz (2-7) are taking on the Phoenix Suns (8-2) in their first game of this season’s Emirates NBA Cup. Known as the NBA In-Season tournament last year, the NBA Cup has gotten a refresh, leaning into the tournament’s origins in European soccer cup competitions. Last season, the Los Angeles Lakers won the inaugural NBA Cup championship.
As a refresher on what the NBA Cup looks like, tonight kicks off the first of four Group Play games the Jazz will play during this tournament. The NBA Cup splits conferences into groups, based on random drawing.
