SALT LAKE CITY — Utah will soon be home to two professional basketball teams.
The Utah Jazz are relocating their D-League team, the Idaho Stampede, from Boise to Salt Lake City for next season, sources confirmed to the Deseret News Sunday night.
The Jazz organization announced Monday morning that the team will be called the Salt Lake City Stars. That, of course, would be a hat tip to the old American Basketball Association franchise, as well as an homage to the old Utah Starzz of the WNBA. The D-League team will play its home games at Salt Lake Community College's Lifetime Activities Center, the Jazz organization.
