A new era begins for the D-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz this fall. Formerly the Idaho Stampede, the newly-christened Salt Lake City Stars have made the move from Boise, Idaho to the Beehive State and, more than ever before, will share a symbiotic relationship with the team’s parent club.
However, not everything is going to be different when the Stars begin their first season in a new city with a revamped roster. According to an announcement from the Stars on Thursday, Dean Cooper will return as the team’s head coach for the 2016-17 season.
Cooper was hired by the Jazz in August of 2014 and has directed the franchise’s D-League affiliate to a 29-71 record over the course of two seasons.
