The Salt Lake City Stars, D-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, welcomed a new player into the fold this week. However, this particular roster move had little to do with the Stars’ parent club.
DeAndre’ Bembry, who was selected with the 21st pick of the 2016 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, was assigned to the Stars on Wednesday. Bembry had appeared in seven games for the Hawks this season, playing just 35 total minutes and averaging 1.3 points per game.
The move was possible because the Hawks are one of eight NBA teams without a D-League affiliation.
