The Utah Jazz’s preseason opener is officially on the books and, as expected, their opponents were grossly over-matched in the affair. Paced by 19 points and five 3-pointers from sharpshooting rookie Grayson Allen, the Jazz band played the Perth Wildcats off the floor to the tune of a 58-point shellacking.
Utah’s athletic superiority was evident from tip-off, as the Jazz scored the game’s first 15 points unanswered. Eight of those points came off the hands of Jazz center Rudy Gobert, who controlled the paint during his limited run.
By night’s end, he had 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting and nine boards in just 15 minutes of play.
