Utah Jazz like what they see from Portis, Looney, Connaughton

This was the best overall group that has participated in the Jazz’s pre-draft workouts, which have now included 42 NBA hopefuls — with a bunch more to come.

SALT LAKE CITY — With two possible lottery picks and another intriguing, well-known prospect, the group that worked out for the Utah Jazz on Wednesday didn’t disappoint.

“Guys fought. They competed,” Jazz vice president of player personnel Walt Perrin said. “It was a good workout.”

Perrin credited the six auditioning players — Arkansas’ Bobby Portis, UCLA’s Kevon Looney, Notre Dame’s Pat Connaughton, Minnesota’s Andre Hollins, Holy Cross’s Malcolm Miller and West Georgia’s Deonta Stocks — for being “pretty conditioned athletes.
