There are many code words used in sports, a few of which include high ceiling, potential and upside. These words are usually used to mask a player’s uncertain future.
Another vague sports term is depth.
Jonathan Reisman of 12up wrote an article titled, “4 reasons why the Utah Jazz pose the biggest threat to the Warriors.” The third reason just so happened to be team depth.
The Jazz were able to win 51 games in the regular season with their preferred starting lineup only taking the floor 13 times. Therefore depth was largely credited for the regular season success.
