Last night’s bout between the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves was tightly contested from the onset. In the early going, Utah struggled to get their momentum going and for a while, their chances of winning the game appeared to be very much in question.
However, thanks to an impressive team effort in the second half which included a 40-point third quarter and an incredible career-high 39 points from Gordon Hayward, the Jazz were able to get the job done and come out on top by a score of 120-113.
And thanks to a surprising Thunder loss to the Suns last night, not only did the win move Utah within one victory of a 50-win season and increase their lead over the Clippers for fourth place in the West, but it also resulted in them officially clinching their first Northwest Division title since the 2007-08 season.
