One of the hallmarks of general manager Dennis Lindsey’s tenure with the Utah Jazz has been the team’s increased focus on the D-League and its affiliate, the Idaho Stampede. To that effect, Lindsey made a pair of signings on Sunday designed to bolster the Stampede’s roster and provide insurance at the point guard position for the Jazz.
Lindsey and the Jazz have come to terms with free agent guard Eric Atkins and claimed second-year point man Phil Pressey off of waivers. As was the case when the team signed EJ Singler late last week, the moves to acquire Atkins and Pressey were made to secure the players’ D-League rights.
