For more than 20 years, there has been talk that Michael Jordan didn’t really have the flu when he scored 38 points in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals in a contest that has become known simply as the “Flu Game.”
On Sunday night during the ninth episode of “The Last Dance” documentary on ESPN, Jordan said it was food poisoning, which many have said over the years.
“So it really wasn’t the ‘Flu Game,’” Jordan said. “It was food poisoning.”
The Bulls won the game 90-88 to take a 3-2 lead in the series, and they wound up winning Game 6 to win the NBA title.
