Big news, Utah Jazz fans. The Jazz have officially exercised their third-year team option on budding star Donovan Mitchell, meaning they’re planning to keep him around on his rookie contract at least through the 2019-20 season.
OK, so this should come as no surprise to anyone, and we all know Mitchell will be staying in Utah for much longer than just his third year as Utah will almost certainly exercise their option for 2020-21 as well, then match any offers thrown his way once he hits restricted free agency. In fact, I’ll be shocked if we even get to the point where Mitchell receives offers, as it’s likely the Jazz will simply lock him down long-term well before that point be it via an extension or otherwise.
