The Utah Jazz are set to sign free agent center Jeff Withey to a partially guaranteed deal, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.
Withey, 25, played in 95 games with the New Orleans Pelicans during his first two years in the NBA. The 7-footer averaged 3 points and 2.2 rebounds in limited minutes as a backup in New Orleans and brings more shot-blocking to the Jazz’s frontcourt.
Withey’s deal is reportedly for two years. He will have to fight for a roster spot on a team that already features 13 guaranteed contracts, including deals for big men Rudy Gobert, Derrick Favors, Tibor Pleiss, Trevor Booker, Trey Lyles and Grant Jerrett.
