No playoffs again, but rebuilding Utah Jazz exceeded expectations

SALT LAKE CITY — The NBA playoffs begin Saturday, and the Utah Jazz won’t be participating in them for the third year in a row.

Management is well aware of that fact.

“We have to own it,” Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey said at Thursday’s postseason wrap-up press conference.

Something the Jazz are a whole lot more excited to own?

How they exceeded expectations in 2014-15 and, it would seem, hit the fast-forward button on their rebuild, finishing 13 wins better than last year at 38-44.

“The process of improvement that we went through this season and the volatility (of our roster) by definition is what an NBA season is about,” first-year Jazz coach Quin Snyder said.
